TOGETHER WE CAN:
Trust
I see a lack of trust between the board, the community, as well as IVGID staff, regarding budgets and financial statements. This is shown both through the Board’s hiring of outside consultants to repeat work done by IVGID staff as well as contentious public comments from community members. IVGID already provides a great resource for financial transparency with Opengov.com. I propose the creation of quarterly infographics and short webinars for the community to have easy, straightforward information to understand where money is being spent and investments IVGID is making.
I propose that at the end of each fiscal year, the board has a community town hall meeting to celebrate the successes throughout the year and discuss areas of improvement for the following year. This will provide clear guidance for the board and the community to better understand the needs for the upcoming year as well as all that has been accomplished.

COMMUNICATION
We need to find better ways to reach constituents. IVGID board meetings are hours long making them inaccessible to the public, especially residents with children. I propose after each board meeting a one pager and podcast is made for our constituents to have a quick understanding of the decisions that were made at each board meeting. I propose that on big agenda items, such as adjusting the recreation fee, IVGID should release a short summary of the agenda item and the pros and cons of that agenda item. I believe this would be helpful for the community to better have input and understand the individual effect of a specific decision.
I would also like to engage more of our community in IVGID. The more viewpoints that are shared, the more informed decisions the Board and IVGID staff can make. I propose creating different means of educating the community through quarterly happy hours, Zoom webinars and lunch and learns, to make sure community input is continuously heard.

SHAREHOLDER VALUEThe amenities and services are what creates this community. IVGID needs to continue to provide value through its venues. The Burnt Cedar pool needs to be addressed, the effluent pipeline needs to be replaced and the golf courses need to be maintained. IVGID is currently providing shareholder value through updating the Tennis Center, constructing bocce ball courts and investing in the new baseball field. I propose that we continue to have conversations about the best way to create value for our community. This should be done through revisiting our master plans and prioritizing projects.
