TOGETHER WE CAN:
Trust
I see a lack of trust between the board, the community, as well as IVGID staff, regarding budgets and financial statements. This is shown both through the Board’s hiring of outside consultants to repeat work done by IVGID staff as well as contentious public comments from community members. In the last year that has been much turnover in the district especially in the finance department. The district has also seen the general fund and utility fund in need of close attention and possible cut back in spending. As a member of the board I propose, the hiring of key finance staff with strong financial background, ensure the board abides by the state and the board reserve policies, and create a financial plan on how revenues will be utilized and expenditures managed to ensure the district has proper reserves.
I have proposed that at the end of each fiscal year, the board has a community town hall meeting to celebrate the successes throughout the year and discuss areas of improvement for the following year. This will provide clear guidance for the board and the community to better understand the needs for the upcoming year as well as all that has been accomplished.

COMMUNICATION
We need to find better ways to reach constituents. IVGID board meetings are hours long making them inaccessible to the public, especially residents with children. While I have been on the board, the board has presented synopsis on each meeting. I propose that on big agenda items, such as adjusting the recreation fee, IVGID should release a short summary of the agenda item and the pros and cons of that agenda item. I believe this would be helpful for the community to better have input and understand the individual effect of a specific decision.
I would also like to engage more of our community in IVGID. The more viewpoints that are shared, the more informed decisions the Board and IVGID staff can make. I have proposed creating different means of educating the community through quarterly town halls, Zoom webinars and lunch and learns, to make sure community input is continuously heard.

SHAREHOLDER VALUEThe amenities and services are what creates this community. IVGID needs to continue to provide value through its venues. The effluent pipeline and Incline beach house need to be finished, the recreation center needs upgrades, there are safety concerns throughout the district and Snowflake lodge needs improvements. I propose that we continue to have conversations about the best way to create value for our community. This should be done through revisiting our master plans and prioritizing projects.
